koliadnyky (Caroling)
koliadnyky, or carolers, are groups of people who sing traditional songs during the Christmas season, particularly in Ukraine. This practice, known as koliadky, involves visiting homes and performing festive songs that celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ and the spirit of the holiday.
The tradition of koliadnyky is deeply rooted in Ukrainian culture, often accompanied by the playing of musical instruments. Carolers may also dress in traditional attire and sometimes receive food or small gifts in return for their performances, fostering a sense of community and joy during the festive season.
