jammers (Sports)
Jammers are specialized athletes in the sport of roller derby. Their primary role is to score points by lapping opposing players during a match. Each team has one jammer on the track at a time, identifiable by a star on their helmet. The jammer's speed and agility are crucial for navigating through the pack of blockers from the opposing team.
To score points, jammers must pass members of the opposing team, earning one point for each player they successfully lap. The game consists of multiple short periods called jams, during which jammers aim to maximize their scoring while avoiding being blocked or knocked down.
