inhibin
Inhibin is a hormone produced primarily by the gonads, which are the reproductive organs in both males and females. In men, it is secreted by the testes, while in women, it is produced by the ovaries. Inhibin plays a crucial role in regulating the production of follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) from the pituitary gland, helping to control reproductive processes.
There are two main forms of inhibin: inhibin A and inhibin B. Inhibin A is mainly produced during pregnancy, while inhibin B is involved in the regulation of sperm production in men and the menstrual cycle in women. By inhibiting FSH secretion, inhibin helps maintain hormonal balance in the body.
