graphemic agraphia
Graphemic agraphia is a type of writing disorder where individuals struggle to form letters and words correctly. This condition often results from damage to specific areas of the brain responsible for writing, such as the left hemisphere and angular gyrus. People with graphemic agraphia may have difficulty with spelling and may produce illegible handwriting.
Individuals with graphemic agraphia can often still understand language and may speak fluently. However, their ability to translate thoughts into written form is impaired. Treatment typically involves targeted therapy to improve writing skills and may include exercises to enhance fine motor control and letter formation.
