feline coronavirus
Feline coronavirus (FCoV) is a virus that primarily affects cats. It is common in multi-cat environments, such as shelters or homes with several cats. Most cats infected with FCoV do not show symptoms, but some can develop a more severe condition called feline infectious peritonitis (FIP), which can be fatal.
FCoV is transmitted through feces, and cats can become infected by ingesting the virus. Good hygiene practices, such as regular cleaning of litter boxes, can help reduce the risk of transmission. Vaccines for FCoV are available, but their effectiveness in preventing FIP is limited.
