epizoochory
Epizoochory is a method of seed dispersal where seeds attach to the exterior of animals, such as fur or feathers. This process allows seeds to travel away from the parent plant, increasing their chances of germination in new locations. Animals inadvertently carry these seeds as they move through their environment.
Once the animal sheds the seeds, they can fall off in different areas, potentially leading to new plant growth. This form of dispersal is beneficial for both the plants, which can spread their offspring, and the animals, which may benefit from the plants' presence in their habitat.
