epidermolytic keratolysis
Epidermolytic keratolysis is a rare skin condition characterized by the formation of blisters and peeling of the outer layer of the skin, known as the epidermis. This condition often appears on the palms of the hands and soles of the feet, leading to discomfort and sensitivity. It can be triggered by friction, heat, or certain irritants.
The condition is usually inherited in an autosomal dominant pattern, meaning only one copy of the mutated gene is needed for a person to be affected. While there is no cure, management focuses on minimizing symptoms and preventing skin damage through proper skin care and avoiding irritants.
