edge-lit
Edge-lit refers to a lighting technology commonly used in flat-panel displays, such as LED TVs and computer monitors. In this design, light-emitting diodes (LEDs) are placed along the edges of the screen. This allows the light to spread across the display, creating a bright and uniform image without the need for a thicker panel.
This method is often preferred for its slim profile and energy efficiency compared to traditional backlit displays. However, edge-lit screens may have limitations in terms of color accuracy and contrast, especially in darker scenes, as the light may not be evenly distributed across the entire screen.
