Dry, or arid, climates are characterized by very little rainfall and high evaporation rates. These regions often experience extreme temperatures, with hot days and cool nights. The lack of moisture means that vegetation is sparse, and the landscape can be dominated by deserts, such as the Sahara Desert or the Mojave Desert.
In arid areas, plants and animals have adapted to survive with minimal water. For example, the cactus stores water in its thick stem, while many animals are nocturnal, coming out at night when temperatures are cooler. Understanding these adaptations helps us appreciate the resilience of life in dry environments.
