Digestion is the process by which our bodies break down the food we eat into smaller, usable parts. It starts in the mouth, where we chew food and mix it with saliva, which contains enzymes that begin to break down carbohydrates. The food then travels down the esophagus to the stomach, where it is mixed with stomach acids and further digested.
After the stomach, the partially digested food moves into the small intestine. Here, it is mixed with bile from the liver and enzymes from the pancreas, which help break down fats, proteins, and carbohydrates. The nutrients are then absorbed into the bloodstream, providing energy and nourishment to our bodies.
