copper matte
Copper matte is a mixture of copper sulfide and iron sulfide, typically produced during the smelting process of copper ores. It appears as a dense, dark-colored material and contains a significant amount of copper, along with other metals like nickel and cobalt.
This intermediate product is further processed to extract pure copper through a series of refining steps. The copper matte is usually converted into blister copper, which is then refined to achieve the desired purity for various applications, including electrical wiring and plumbing, as well as in the production of copper alloys.
