catechumens
Catechumens are individuals who are preparing to receive the sacraments of initiation in the Christian faith, particularly in the Roman Catholic and Eastern Orthodox traditions. This process typically involves a period of instruction and spiritual formation, known as the Catechumenate, where they learn about the teachings, beliefs, and practices of the Church.
During this time, catechumens participate in various rites and rituals that help them grow in their faith. They are often supported by sponsors or mentors who guide them through their journey. The process culminates in the reception of the sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation, and Eucharist, usually during the Easter Vigil.
