bronchiectasis
Bronchiectasis is a chronic lung condition characterized by the abnormal widening and damage of the airways, known as bronchi. This damage leads to the accumulation of mucus, making it difficult for the body to clear out bacteria and other pathogens, which can result in frequent lung infections and inflammation.
Symptoms of bronchiectasis may include a persistent cough, production of large amounts of mucus, shortness of breath, and chest pain. Treatment often involves antibiotics to manage infections, airway clearance techniques, and sometimes medications to help reduce inflammation and improve lung function.
