asymmetric warfare
Asymmetric warfare refers to conflicts where opposing forces differ significantly in military capabilities or strategies. Typically, one side is a conventional military force, while the other may be a smaller, unconventional group using guerrilla tactics, sabotage, or terrorism. This type of warfare often aims to exploit the weaknesses of a stronger opponent.
In asymmetric warfare, the weaker side seeks to level the playing field by using surprise, mobility, and knowledge of the local terrain. Examples include the Vietnam War, where Viet Cong forces used guerrilla tactics against the U.S. military, and the ongoing conflicts involving non-state actors against established governments.
