associative agnosia
Associative agnosia is a neurological condition where a person can perceive objects but cannot recognize or identify them. Individuals with this condition may see an object clearly but struggle to connect it with its meaning or function. For example, they might be able to describe the features of a banana but cannot name it or explain its use.
This disorder typically results from damage to specific areas of the brain, often in the temporal lobe. People with associative agnosia can still draw or copy objects, indicating that their visual perception remains intact, but their ability to associate visual input with stored knowledge is impaired.
