On July 20, 1969, the Apollo 11 mission successfully landed the first humans on the Moon. Astronauts Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin stepped onto the lunar surface, while Michael Collins orbited above in the command module. Armstrong famously declared, "That's one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind."
The mission lasted eight days, during which the astronauts conducted experiments and collected lunar samples. They returned to Earth on July 24, splashing down in the Pacific Ocean. Apollo 11 marked a significant achievement in space exploration and demonstrated the capabilities of human ingenuity and technology.
