agnomen
An agnomen is an additional name or nickname that is given to a person, often to highlight a specific characteristic or achievement. This term is commonly associated with ancient Roman naming conventions, where individuals could have multiple names, including a praenomen (given name), nomen (family name), and agnomen.
In some cases, an agnomen could be used to honor a significant event or accomplishment, such as a military victory. For example, the Roman general Scipio Africanus received the agnomen "Africanus" after his successes in Africa during the Second Punic War.
