Zygoptera
Zygoptera is a suborder of insects commonly known as damselflies. They are closely related to dragonflies but are generally smaller and have slender bodies. Damselflies are characterized by their two pairs of wings, which are typically held together above their bodies when at rest. They are found in various habitats, especially near freshwater sources like ponds and streams.
These insects undergo incomplete metamorphosis, meaning they develop through several nymph stages before becoming adults. Zygoptera nymphs are aquatic and play a role in the ecosystem by preying on smaller organisms. As adults, they are important pollinators and serve as food for birds and other wildlife.
