Zinc Anode
A zinc anode is a type of sacrificial anode made from zinc, commonly used in corrosion protection for metal structures. It works by corroding preferentially, thereby protecting other metal parts, such as boats, pipelines, and storage tanks, from rust and degradation. This process is known as cathodic protection.
Zinc anodes are often attached to submerged or buried metal surfaces. When the zinc anode corrodes, it releases electrons that help to prevent the corrosion of the protected metal. This method is effective in various environments, including freshwater and seawater, making zinc anodes a popular choice for marine applications.
