Zealots
Zealots were a political movement in first-century Judea that sought to resist Roman rule. They were known for their passionate commitment to Jewish law and their belief in the necessity of armed rebellion against the Romans. The term "zealot" has since come to describe anyone who is fanatically devoted to a cause.
The most famous group of Zealots was the Sicarii, who used guerrilla tactics to fight against Roman authorities. Their actions contributed to the larger context of the Jewish War, which ultimately led to the destruction of the Second Temple in 70 CE.
