Zatoichi is characterized by his exceptional swordsmanship, keen instincts, and a strong sense of justice, often helping the oppressed.
The character has been portrayed by various actors, most notably Shintaro Katsu, who played him in 26 films from the 1960s to the 1980s. The stories typically blend action, drama, and humor, set against the backdrop of Japan's Edo period, showcasing themes of honor and redemption.
