Yellow-Bellied Marmot
The Yellow-Bellied Marmot is a large rodent found in the mountainous regions of western North America. They typically inhabit rocky areas and meadows, where they can easily find food and shelter. These marmots are known for their distinctive yellowish-brown fur and a bright yellow belly, which gives them their name. They are social animals, often living in colonies and communicating through a series of whistles.
Yellow-bellied marmots primarily feed on grasses, flowers, and other vegetation. They are active during the day and spend much of their time foraging for food. In preparation for winter, they hibernate for several months, storing fat to survive the cold season.
