Yawls
A yawl is a type of sailing vessel characterized by its two masts. The main mast is taller, while the smaller mizzen mast is located behind the rudder post. This design allows for better balance and maneuverability, especially when sailing downwind. Yawls are often used for cruising and racing due to their stability and ease of handling.
Yawls can be distinguished from similar vessels, such as ketches, which have the mizzen mast positioned in front of the rudder post. The yawl's design makes it suitable for both recreational sailing and long-distance voyages, appealing to sailors who enjoy versatility on the water.
