Yasi
Yasi is a tropical cyclone that formed in the South Pacific Ocean in February 2011. It was classified as a Category 5 storm, which is the highest level on the Saffir-Simpson scale. Yasi caused significant damage in Australia, particularly in Queensland, where it made landfall, leading to widespread flooding and destruction of homes and infrastructure.
The cyclone had sustained winds of up to 175 miles per hour (280 kilometers per hour) and affected thousands of residents. Emergency services were mobilized to assist with evacuations and recovery efforts. Yasi is remembered as one of the most powerful storms to impact Australia in recent history.
