Yamamoto Tsunetomo
Yamamoto Tsunetomo was a Japanese samurai born in 1659 in the Saga Domain. He is best known for his work, Hagakure, a collection of thoughts and teachings on the samurai way of life. Written in the early 18th century, it emphasizes loyalty, honor, and the importance of living in the moment.
Tsunetomo became a monk after the death of his lord, choosing to live a life of reflection rather than active service. His writings have influenced modern interpretations of Bushido, the way of the warrior, and continue to be studied for their insights into samurai philosophy and ethics.
