XIT Ranch
XIT Ranch was a large cattle ranch located in the Texas Panhandle, established in the late 19th century. It covered over three million acres and was one of the largest ranches in the United States. The ranch was founded by a group of investors, including the XIT Cattle Company, who aimed to supply beef to the growing population in the eastern United States.
The ranch's name, "XIT," comes from the brand used on its cattle. It played a significant role in the development of the region and contributed to the cattle industry during the era of the Open Range. Today, the legacy of XIT Ranch is celebrated in local history and culture.
