Wurtsmith Air Force Base
Wurtsmith Air Force Base is a former military installation located near Oscoda, Michigan. Established in 1923, it served various roles, including as a strategic bomber base during the Cold War. The base was officially closed in 1993 as part of the Base Realignment and Closure (BRAC) process.
Today, the site is repurposed for civilian use, including the Wurtsmith Air Museum and other community facilities. The area is also home to various businesses and recreational activities, contributing to the local economy while preserving its historical significance.
