Writers of the Future
"Writers of the Future" is an annual writing contest established in 1983 to encourage aspiring science fiction and fantasy writers. It is sponsored by the Church of Scientology and aims to discover new talent in the genre. Winners receive cash prizes, publication in an anthology, and the opportunity to attend a week-long workshop with established authors.
The contest is open to writers worldwide, with entries accepted from both amateur and professional authors. Each year, a panel of judges, including renowned authors and industry professionals, evaluates submissions. The program has helped launch the careers of many successful writers in the science fiction and fantasy genres.
