Writers Guild of America, West
The Writers Guild of America, West (WGAW) is a labor union representing writers in the film, television, and digital media industries. Founded in 1933, it advocates for the rights and interests of its members, ensuring fair compensation, working conditions, and creative rights. The WGAW also provides resources and support for writers, including training programs and networking opportunities.
The WGAW is one of two branches of the Writers Guild of America, the other being the Writers Guild of America, East. Together, they negotiate collective bargaining agreements with studios and production companies, helping to establish industry standards and protect the rights of writers across various media platforms.
