World Trade Center Transportation Hub
The World Trade Center Transportation Hub, also known as the Oculus, is a major transit center located in Lower Manhattan, New York City. Designed by architect Santiago Calatrava, it serves as a connection point for several subway lines and the PATH train, facilitating travel to and from New Jersey. The hub was built to replace the original transportation facilities destroyed during the September 11 attacks.
Opened in March 2016, the hub features a striking, bird-like design with a large, open space filled with natural light. It includes retail shops and dining options, making it a vibrant part of the World Trade Center complex. The structure symbolizes resilience and renewal in the wake of tragedy.
