World Cup trophy
The World Cup trophy is awarded to the winner of the FIFA World Cup, the premier international soccer tournament. Made of 18-carat gold, it stands about 36.8 centimeters tall and weighs approximately 6.1 kilograms. The trophy features two human figures holding up the Earth, symbolizing the global nature of the competition.
First introduced in 1930, the trophy has undergone changes over the years. The original trophy, known as the Jules Rimet Trophy, was replaced in 1974 by the current design. Teams that win the tournament three times are allowed to keep the trophy permanently, a distinction achieved by Brazil, Germany, and Italy.
