Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act
The Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) is a U.S. law enacted in 2014 aimed at improving job training and employment services. It focuses on helping individuals, especially those with barriers to employment, gain skills and find jobs. WIOA promotes collaboration among various workforce development programs and encourages the use of local resources to meet the needs of businesses and job seekers.
WIOA also emphasizes the importance of youth programs, vocational rehabilitation, and adult education. By fostering partnerships between government agencies, educational institutions, and employers, WIOA seeks to create a more effective workforce system that benefits both workers and the economy.
