Woolworth
Woolworth was a popular retail chain founded in 1879 by Frank Winfield Woolworth in the United States. It became known for its "five-and-dime" stores, where customers could buy a variety of inexpensive goods, including toys, household items, and snacks. The chain expanded rapidly, becoming a significant part of American shopping culture throughout the 20th century.
At its peak, Woolworth operated thousands of stores worldwide, including locations in Canada and the United Kingdom. However, changing shopping habits and increased competition led to its decline, and the last Woolworth store in the U.S. closed in 1997. Today, the brand is mostly remembered for its historical significance in retail.
