Wood Turtle
The Wood Turtle is a medium-sized turtle native to North America, primarily found in the northeastern United States and parts of Canada. It has a distinctive, rugged shell with a brown or olive color and yellow or orange markings. Wood Turtles prefer habitats near rivers, streams, and wetlands, where they can easily access both land and water.
These turtles are known for their unique behavior, including foraging for food on land. Their diet consists of a variety of plants, insects, and small invertebrates. Unfortunately, the Wood Turtle is considered a threatened species due to habitat loss and illegal collection for the pet trade.
