Wombat Species
Wombats are sturdy, burrowing marsupials native to Australia. There are three main species: the Common Wombat, the Northern Hairy-nosed Wombat, and the Southern Hairy-nosed Wombat. They are known for their strong bodies, short legs, and distinctive cube-shaped droppings, which help mark their territory.
The Northern Hairy-nosed Wombat is critically endangered, with only a few dozen individuals remaining in the wild. Wombats primarily feed on grasses and roots, using their powerful jaws to dig and forage. Their habitats range from forests to grasslands, making them adaptable to various environments within their native range.
