Wind Power Plants
Wind power plants are facilities that convert the kinetic energy of wind into electricity. They use large structures called wind turbines, which have blades that spin when the wind blows. This spinning motion turns a generator inside the turbine, producing electrical energy that can be fed into the power grid.
These plants can be found on land, known as onshore wind farms, or in bodies of water, referred to as offshore wind farms. Wind power is a renewable energy source, meaning it is sustainable and reduces reliance on fossil fuels, helping to lower greenhouse gas emissions and combat climate change.
