Wilson Dam
Wilson Dam is a hydroelectric dam located on the Tennessee River in Florence, Alabama. Completed in 1924, it was one of the first major projects of the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA), designed to provide electricity and flood control for the region. The dam creates Wilson Lake, which is popular for recreational activities like fishing and boating.
The dam stands 137 feet tall and stretches 4,500 feet across the river. It generates a significant amount of electricity, contributing to the TVA's mission of improving the quality of life in the Tennessee Valley. Wilson Dam also plays a crucial role in managing water levels and preventing flooding downstream.
