Williamson's Expedition
Williamson's Expedition was a military campaign led by Colonel John Williamson in 1776 during the American Revolutionary War. The mission aimed to secure the western frontier of the Thirteen Colonies by targeting the Iroquois Confederacy, which was allied with the British. The expedition involved a series of raids against Iroquois villages in present-day New York and Pennsylvania.
The campaign resulted in the destruction of several Iroquois settlements and aimed to weaken their support for the British. Although it achieved some military objectives, Williamson's Expedition also contributed to tensions between settlers and Native American tribes, impacting relations in the region for years to come.
