Williamite War
The Williamite War (1689-1691) was a conflict in Ireland between supporters of King William III of England and those loyal to the deposed King James II. This war was part of a larger struggle for power in Europe, as William sought to secure his rule and Protestantism in Ireland against the Catholic monarchy represented by James.
The war included several key battles, such as the Battle of the Boyne in 1690, where William's forces defeated James's army. The conflict ended with the Treaty of Limerick in 1691, which granted certain rights to Catholics but was later undermined, leading to further tensions in Ireland.
