William de La Warr, 1st Earl de La Warr
William de La Warr, 1st Earl de La Warr (1570–1616), was an English nobleman and politician. He is best known for his role as the governor of the Virginia Colony, where he played a significant part in its early development. Appointed in 1610, he aimed to improve the colony's struggling economy and relations with Indigenous peoples.
De La Warr was also a member of the House of Lords and served in various military and administrative roles. His title, Earl de La Warr, was created in 1628, posthumously recognizing his contributions to England and its colonies.
