William Higinbotham
William Higinbotham was an American physicist best known for creating one of the first video games, called Tennis for Two, in 1958. He developed this simple tennis simulation to entertain visitors at the Brookhaven National Laboratory, where he worked. The game was played on an oscilloscope and allowed players to control the angle of their shots.
Higinbotham's work in physics contributed to the development of the atomic bomb during World War II. After the war, he focused on promoting the peaceful use of nuclear energy and was involved in various scientific and educational initiatives throughout his career.
