William Anders
William Anders is an American astronaut, engineer, and businessman, best known for his role in the Apollo 8 mission in 1968. During this historic flight, he became one of the first humans to orbit the Moon and famously captured the iconic photograph "Earthrise," which showcased Earth from lunar orbit.
Born on October 17, 1933, in Hong Kong, Anders graduated from the United States Naval Academy and later earned a master's degree in aerospace engineering. After his NASA career, he worked in the private sector, including positions at General Dynamics and NASA's Ames Research Center.
