Willard Metcalf
Willard Metcalf was an American painter born on July 1, 1858, in Lowell, Massachusetts. He is best known for his landscape paintings that capture the beauty of nature, particularly in the New England region. Metcalf was associated with the American Impressionism movement, which emphasized light and color in outdoor scenes.
Throughout his career, Metcalf studied at the School of the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston and later in Paris. He became a prominent member of the Cos Cob Art Colony in Connecticut, where he painted many of his notable works. Metcalf passed away on March 9, 1925, leaving a lasting impact on American art.
