Wichita-Class
The Wichita-Class refers to a class of heavy cruisers built for the United States Navy during World War II. These ships were designed for versatility, capable of engaging in both surface and air combat. The class included three ships: USS Wichita, USS New Orleans, and USS St. Louis, which were commissioned between 1939 and 1944.
Wichita-Class cruisers featured a displacement of around 10,000 tons and were armed with a combination of 8-inch guns and anti-aircraft weaponry. Their design allowed for improved speed and maneuverability, making them effective in various naval operations throughout the war, including the Pacific Theater.
