Whitmore Mountains
The Whitmore Mountains are a mountain range located in the northern part of the {Antarctic} continent. They are situated within the {Queen Maud Land} region and are known for their rugged terrain and unique geological features. The mountains are primarily composed of volcanic rock and are part of the larger {Transantarctic Mountain} system.
These mountains are named after the American geologist {William Whitmore}, who contributed to the understanding of Antarctic geology. The Whitmore Mountains are relatively remote and are often studied for their insights into past climate conditions and glacial activity in the {Antarctic} region.
