Whitaker Chambers
Whitaker Chambers was an American writer and former communist spy, best known for his role in the Alger Hiss case during the late 1940s. Born in 1901, he became a prominent figure in the anti-communist movement after he publicly accused Hiss, a former State Department official, of espionage. Chambers' testimony and the subsequent trial were pivotal in shaping public perception of communism in the United States.
