Westwall
The Westwall, also known as the Siegfried Line, was a defensive fortification built by Nazi Germany along its western border before World War II. Constructed between 1929 and 1938, it aimed to protect Germany from potential invasions, particularly from France. The line consisted of bunkers, anti-tank obstacles, and other military installations.
During the war, the Westwall was heavily fortified and played a significant role in the defense against Allied forces. However, it was eventually breached in 1944, leading to significant losses for the German military. The fortifications are now historical sites, reflecting the military strategies of the era.
