Western ground parrot
The Western ground parrot is a small, flightless bird native to the southwestern region of Australia. It has a distinctive green and yellow plumage, which helps it blend into its natural habitat of heathlands and scrub. This parrot primarily feeds on seeds, fruits, and flowers, foraging on the ground rather than in trees.
Due to habitat loss and predation by introduced species, the Western ground parrot is critically endangered. Conservation efforts are underway to protect its remaining populations and restore its habitat. The bird's unique behavior and ecological role make it an important species for biodiversity in its region.
