West Siberian Plain
The West Siberian Plain is a vast lowland region located in western Siberia, Russia. It stretches approximately 1,600 kilometers from the Ural Mountains in the west to the Yenisei River in the east. This area is characterized by flat terrain, numerous rivers, and extensive wetlands, making it one of the largest continuous plains in the world.
The plain is primarily composed of sedimentary rock and is rich in natural resources, including oil and natural gas. The climate is continental, with cold winters and warm summers, which influences the diverse ecosystems found in the region, including taiga and tundra habitats.
