Water Monitor
The Water Monitor is a large species of lizard found primarily in Southeast Asia. It belongs to the family Varanidae and is known for its long, slender body and powerful limbs. These lizards can grow up to 2 meters (6.5 feet) in length and are often found near water sources such as rivers, lakes, and swamps. They are excellent swimmers and can dive underwater to escape predators or hunt for food.
Water Monitors are carnivorous and feed on a variety of prey, including fish, amphibians, and small mammals. They play an important role in their ecosystem by helping to control populations of these animals. Due to habitat loss and hunting, some populations of Water Monitors are threatened, making conservation efforts essential for their survival.
